Ensemble Il Basilico (Basel) and I (Flavio Ferri‐Benedetti) have been planning for a long time already the creation of a beautiful, castrato‐themed project to record in 2015 in Basel.
Domenico Annibali (1705–1779) was an adorable Italian low mezzosoprano‐castrato, mainly a star in operas of J. A. Hasse in Dresden, who also sang for Porpora in Italy, Handel in London, Ristori in Germany and Poland...
His range and the style of the music he had to sing are very near to my tessitura and taste, which is why I always wanted to record a solo album with arias sung in the 18th Century by castrato Annibali.
The music will include Handel, Hasse, Ristori, Porpora and some rare surprises, also thanks to the support of musicologist Philipp Kriesig.
Since we are going to do this as an independent project, we need your help starting from now. Not only we will have many people playing in the Basilico orchestra (for the first time in a bigger setting!), but we also have to face the rental costs of the recording place, the Sound Engineer, the printing and pressing of the CDs...
Please, make your donation so that we can make Annibali live again in 2015 🙂 All donators will receive a copy of the CD (of course!) and I will make my best to keep you posted about the results!
Thank you, grazie, danke schön, merci, gracias, gràcies!
